GENERAL PURPOSE: The Maintenance & Grounds Staff is responsible for keeping the fields, facilities, and grounds in safe, playable, and professional condition for youth, high-school, collegiate, and tournament play. This hands-on role focuses on turf and infield care, equipment maintenance, and general facility upkeep to ensure an exceptional experience for players, coaches, and spectators.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform daily field preparation: drag, rake, water, and maintain infield dirt; build and repair pitching mounds and home plates

Mow, edge, fertilize, aerate, and overseed outfield grass and turf areas

Maintain bases, foul poles, fencing, netting, dugouts, bullpens, and warning tracks

Clean and sanitize restrooms, concession stands, bleachers, press box, and common areas

Operate and maintain commercial mowers, tractors, infield groomers, top-dressers, and other grounds equipment

Perform minor repairs on irrigation systems, backstops, scoreboards, and lighting

Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides according to label instructions and safety standards (certification preferred)

Set up and tear down fields for tournaments, clinics, and special events

Conduct daily safety inspections and report hazards or needed repairs

Assist with inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment

Work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays during peak season
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Qualifications & Requirements

1–2 years of groundskeeping, landscaping, or athletic field maintenance experience (preferred)

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Ability to operate heavy equipment and power tools safely

Basic knowledge of turf management, soil science, and irrigation systems

Pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain within 90 days (preferred)

Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Ability to lift 50+ lbs regularly and stand/walk for extended periods

Work outdoors in all weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow)

Frequent bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and climbing ladders/stairs
