JOB TITLE: SCHOOL BUS DRIVER
QUALIFICATIONS:
- State Bus Driver’s License
- Such additional health, age, or other requirements the Leeds City Schools Board of Education may deem appropriate.
REPORTS TO: Principal or Principal’s Designee
JOB GOAL: To provide safe, efficient transportation so that students may enjoy the fullest advantage from the district’s program.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Observes all mandatory safety regulations for school buses.
- Maintains discipline when students are on the bus.
- Reports undisciplined students to the proper authority.
- Keeps assigned bus clean.
- Checks bus for mechanical defects before each operation.
- Notifies the proper authority in case of mechanical failure or tardiness.
- Discharges students only at authorized stops.
- Exercises responsible leadership when on out-of-district school trips.
- Transports only authorized students.
- Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
- Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
- Completes required training programs satisfactorily.
- Maintains good public relations, especially with patrons on route.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: As determined by the Leeds City Schools Board of Education (183 days)
EVALUATION: Performance of the job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
