Job Title: Part Time Floating Assistant Teacher
Position Summary:
We are seeking a caring, dependable, and flexible Part Time Floating Assistant Teacher to join our early childhood team. This position supports classrooms serving children from 6 weeks through 12 years of age. The Floating Assistant Teacher will move between classrooms as needed to help maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment while supporting proper supervision, classroom routines, and staff to child ratios.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist lead teachers with classroom supervision, daily routines, and activities across various age groups.
- Support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
- Follow lesson plans, classroom expectations, and daily schedules provided by the lead teacher.
- Supervise children during playtime, meals, nap time, outdoor play, and transitions.
- Communicate professionally with staff, children, and families as needed.
- Move between classrooms as assigned to help maintain proper staff to child ratios.
- Assist with diapering, toileting, feeding, cleaning, and other classroom needs based on the age group.
- Participate in required training and professional development.
- Follow all center policies, licensing requirements, and health and safety procedures.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Experience working with children in a group setting preferred.
- Must be flexible and willing to work with all age groups, including infants through school age.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and remain active throughout the day.
- DCF 45 hours completed or willingness to obtain upon hire preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to complete upon hire.
- Must pass background screening and meet all licensing requirements.
- Must be dependable, professional, and able to work as part of a team.
Schedule:
This is a part time position with a regular schedule of Monday through Friday, 12:00 PM to 6:30 PM. Additional full day hours may be available as needed based on center needs. There is also a possibility of this position becoming full time in the future.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $14.50 - $15.50 per hour
