Job Overview
We own three buildings that need upkeep. The most intense is a restaurant. There is an office building and a house.
This is mostly a weekend job. We generally do not start early, though by arrangement there may be some early appointments at the buildings.
We are hiring one person to primarily handle maintenance and equipment tasks.
The owner is well versed in building maintenance and equipment repair, however, he wants to slow down and turn things over to someone else.
You MUST have your own reliable transportation.
What you’ll do
-For the Restaurant:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks including, plumbing, water filter changes, equipment cleaning -repair - replacement, minor HVAC issues, etc.. We have an HVAC company and contractors for the bigger jobs.
- Kitchen cleaning follows a daily schedule for the staff. To the extent that items were not done or need additional attention you will be helping with those.
- There are monthly and semi-annual items to attend to such as HVAC filters, water filters, deep cleaning of equipment and the walk-in refrigeration units, assisting with the hood/fan cleaning on the roof, etc.
- Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify areas needing repair or improvement, ensuring compliance with safety standards and the Pima County Health Code (we will orient you on the food health code requirements).
- We do just about everything in-house including welding, table refurbishment, floor waxing, pressure washing, etc.
- For the Office building:
- Touch up with paint and normal wear and tear. The building is relatively new after a major rebuild. We always need some ground-keeping.
- Cleaning every other week - routine trash and bathroom and general office cleaning.
- For the house:
- Some cleaning.
- This is a good place to fabricate things that we might need for the other two locations.
- Organizing the sheds.
- Landscape / irrigation from time to time.
Skills
- Knowledge and experience with mechanical tools and equipment.
- Experience in facilities maintenance with a solid understanding of building systems and operations.
- If you have good basic handyman skills, this is what we are looking for.
- Self Starter able to show up and get going even if the supervisor is not there.
- Reliable transportation is a must.
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, to facilitate effective teamwork and reporting.
- Competent at repairs and maintaining the facilities.
The owner is quite knowledgeable about the condition and upkeep of the buildings and will help you get oriented. The owner will also work with you on most weekends, but wants to take some time off.
Hours and Skill variations:
We get going around 10 am ish and work to late in the day. This is mostly a Saturday / Sunday job. To the extent that you are able to work without supervision, we may have some earlier times throughout the week as well.
The pay rate will be dependent on your skills, competence, ability to follow instructions and work ethic. The more you can do, the better it is for everyone.

We would like for you to have or be willing to get OSHA 10 and ANSI Food Safety Manager Certification. We will pay for the courses for the right candidate.
