ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
As a sales representative, you will cultivate and grow retail account relationships through effective planning, selling execution and communication resulting in the achievement of company objectives. You Must be detail and results oriented, deadline driven with excellent verbal communication skill and the ability to multi-task, work independently or within a team. You are Responsible for calling on all accounts on a daily route and creating an established and efficient routing pattern. Analyzing your entire account base by visiting each account and identifying opportunities. Prepare and deliver professional sales presentations to customers by balancing the companies priorities and customer needs to include selling display ideas, new products, cold box and shelve placement. Having a clear understanding of the products on sale and being able to decipher which ones are most suitable for a stores location and consumer base. You must have a valid driver’s license and a reliable automobile to effectively visit and service your accounts. A weekly stipend will be provided per pay roll to cover gas and car expenses.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE
High school and/or college graduate equivalent. Experience in sales/ servicing chain stores is preferable but not mandatory. Within 45 days of hiring you must apply and receive a certificate from the Division of Alcoholic Beverage and Tobacco for Distributors salespersons of wine and spirits. DBPR ABT-6013 is provided by the state of Florida.
Job summary: An employee in this position will be calling on major retailers such as Publix, Winn Dixie, Fresco Y mas, Navaro, Earth Fare, Total wine and more, and any other potential new major chains. Upon hiring, you will be trained in your new route or asked to visit another route for training. If asked to travel for training, hotel and traveling expenses will be included in compensation. Training will be provided for four weeks by your immediate supervisor. The number one objective is this position is to increase sales in each individual account. Some accounts in a given route may already be open and contain product in which you can build upon. Other accounts on a route may not carry our authorized products and will require you to open that account. It will be the sales representative’s responsibility to determine the most sufficient way to run a route and mapping out a daily routine. Frequency on visiting accounts will be determined by the sales rep and the accounts ability to turn over products.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Visiting accounts and placing orders that adhere to the proper delivery days for that particular area.
- Communication with management and store personal before submitting orders is imperative to ensure a smooth delivery and merchandising process. Proper communication is required to make sure all items are activated before submitting an order and having clear understanding of where product is to be merchandised.
- You must be able to Effectively navigate the tablet and sales software to use for placing orders, showing managers a sale sheet, obtaining product description, display examples, providing product codes, pack sizes, sales cost, SRP’S, nutrition facts, inventory, reviewing product catalogs, writing credits, sending emails, and submitting orders by cutoff time.
- The ability to seek out opportunity within an individual account and effectively project the opportunity to a store manager. Whether it be cross merchandising one of our products with a stores product or cross merchandising a Flora product with an Orvino wine.
- Merchandising deliveries at times and or providing clear instructions to a merchandiser. Following up with a merchandiser or a store manager after the order is merchandised to make sure all work is done within that companies merchandising guidelines.
- When merchandising an order you must make sure the items are being rotated. The shorter date items should always be in the front of the section or sales display to prevent out of date products and minimize credits. This applies to wine as well. If you oversee a merchandiser it is your responsibility they adhere to these guidelines as the consequences fall in the hands of the sales rep.
- If truck is unable to make a small delivery it may be the sales reps responsibility to pick up and deliver an order. If the sales rep does make a delivery they must immediately scan and email a copy of the receiving report to proper office personal. Failure to do this may result in not being paid for that order.
- Store level Inventory control is imperative to maintaining and building sales. It is the sales reps responsibility to make sure management is aware of holes and counts are done. Orvino and Flora sales reps are responsible for inventory management of warehouse and DSD items.
- Making sure the proper sale signs and tags are displayed throughout the store on all FLORA/ORVINO products.
- Provide each account with adequate service. Checking in with management and receivers, Working out back stock, Fronting up all displays and items in each set, dusting off wine bottles, ordering adequately, forecasting for upcoming sales and display planning, writing up credits, presenting sale items to management.
- Knowing what sales are upcoming and making sure that store has the inventory to support a sale.
- Practice personal hygiene on a daily basis and dressing in a professional manner.
DAILEY FUNCTIONS: When servicing one of your retail accounts there are many steps to take to making sure that store is completely satisfied with your level of service and maximize sales. There is a process of steps we like to use that can be applied in all accounts. This process is to be followed on a daily basis from account to account.
- Check in account with the receiver/manager, make sure they know you are there.
- Check backroom for any back stock from previous order to be worked out as well as credit box which may contain items to be worked back onto sales floor.
- Using a ladder, go through every single section containing your product to front up all your items and make sure all rows are strait and properly rotated.
- If serving a Publix, make a list of all low velocity items that are missing from Orvino and Flora for presenting to manager for activations.
- While doing step three in all accounts, look for opportunity in sections to cut in new items for presenting to management. While doing this also note items that may have missing tags, or wrong sales signs.
- Using your tablet, revisit all the sections to place your shelf order and fill any holes there may be.
- Seek out display opportunity and know what items you want to upsell, have a clear vision of how you want to build a display, where the product will best sell, and your target goal for the amount of cases you want to bring in.
- With your sales plan complete and your list of items you may need to activate, count inventory, make sale signs, or forecast for an upcoming sale, find the manager you work with and present this to him or her all at once.
- Close the sale with that manager. Write up any credits you may have, and submit your order with the proper delivery date.
