Temprel Inc. / NMI Prototype is seeking an experienced CNC Lead / Senior CNC Machinist to join our machining operation in Boyne City, Michigan.
This is a hands-on position for someone who is comfortable setting up and operating CNC equipment, troubleshooting machining issues, supporting other operators, and helping keep production moving efficiently.
We are looking for someone who can become a key member of the CNC department and help us continue developing the team as we grow.
Responsibilities
- Assist and support CNC operators with machine setups for production and prototype work.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, tolerances, and manufacturing requirements.
- Assist operators with CNC programming, program optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Select and properly set up cutting tools, workholding, and machining parameters.
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and quality issues.
- Ensure operators are set up with the proper inspection equipment and understand the inspection requirements for each job.
- Maintain required quality and production standards.
- Help coordinate work priorities and production schedules.
- Work closely with CNC operators, Customer Service, and the Inventory Specialist to identify and coordinate material, tooling, and inventory requirements needed to support production schedules.
- Provide guidance and training to CNC operators.
- Work with management to identify opportunities to improve cycle times, setups, tooling, and overall efficiency.
- Help maintain an organized, safe, and productive machining environment.
- Support preventative maintenance and proper care of CNC equipment.
Equipment
Our CNC department includes Haas CNC lathes and machining equipment, including mill-turn capability. Experience with Haas equipment and Fanuc controls is beneficial.
Qualifications
Preferred experience:
- CNC machining and setup experience.
- CNC lathe experience.
- Ability to independently set up machines and troubleshoot machining problems.
- Strong blueprint-reading and inspection skills.
- Experience with precision measuring equipment.
- Understanding of cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and machining processes.
- CNC programming or CAM experience is highly desirable.
- Previous lead or training experience is beneficial but not required for the right candidate.
We are more interested in finding someone with strong machining fundamentals, good judgment, and the ability to learn than someone who simply checks every box.
Schedule
- Monday–Thursday: 6:00 AM–4:00 PM
- Fridays are currently utilized for overtime based on production needs.
- Current Friday overtime schedule is generally 6:00 AM–12:00 PM.

Pay: $28.00 - $32.00 per hour
