Summary of position:
The School Counselor is responsible for organizing and administering school counseling services for BCIU Alternative Education Programs with the primary intent of assisting every student solve his/her problems while also promoting growth of the individual in self-direction.
Job Responsibilities (see attached job description for additional details):

Counsel students on an individual basis at the elementary, middle school, and/or high school levels when referrals are made from administrators, teachers, parents, and/or community agencies.

Counsel students on an individual basis at the assigned school levels in terms of academic, social, emotional, and vocational development.

Conduct group counseling sessions as the need arises in the areas of personal, social, emotional, educational, and career development.
Qualifications:

Must hold a Master's Degree and be certified as a School Counselor.

At least three years of experience in education or mental health counseling preferred.

Must possess the personal qualifications for the development of desirable working relationships with people in the school and community.

Must have excellent oral and written communication skills with youth and adults.

Previous successful experience with children who demonstrate ‘at risk' behaviors preferred.
Schedule:
Full Time School Counselor. Primary responsibility will be supporting grades 3-5, This program supports up to 20 Reading School District students on caseload at our BCIU Bridge Program located at the Olivet Boys and Girls Club, Oakbrook Campus.
Experience in trauma informed practices, community and family supports, attendance plan and procedures, and group lessons preferred.
