Duties
- Develop comprehensive lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards and tailored to varied learning styles
- Create engaging instructional materials that incorporate creative writing, research techniques, and digital learning tools
- Edit and proofread student assignments, essays, and projects using AP style, Chicago Manual of Style, and other relevant guidelines
- Mentor students in developing strong writing skills, literary analysis, and effective communication strategies
- Design assessments including standardized tests and formative evaluations to monitor student progress
- Manage classroom behavior and foster an inclusive environment conducive to active learning
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and educational best practices
- Provide academic advising and support for students pursuing higher education or specialized fields such as linguistics or journalism
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, Education, Linguistics, Journalism or related field; advanced degrees preferred
- Proven experience teaching English at the secondary or higher education level; private school experience is a plus
- Strong knowledge of curriculum development, lesson planning, classroom management, and instructional design
- Familiarity with learning technology platforms and digital tools for remote or hybrid instruction
- Excellent writing skills with proficiency in copy editing, proofreading, and adherence to style guides like AP style or Chicago Manual of Style
- Experience working with diverse student populations including those with special education needs or behavioral challenges
- Ability to mentor students effectively while demonstrating organizational skills and professionalism in educational administration
