JHR & Training Coordinator
Objective
The HR & Training Coordinator is primarily responsible for onboarding, preparing, training, and supporting Care Professionals throughout their employment. This position ensures that new and existing Care Professionals receive the orientation, education, competency validation, coaching, and ongoing training necessary to provide safe, compassionate, and high-quality care.
While the role includes HR administration and supports the hiring process, its primary focus is creating a consistent, thorough, and engaging training experience from the time a candidate is hired through continued employment. The HR & Training Coordinator maintains accurate training and compliance records, monitors required certifications, identifies ongoing development needs, and partners with leadership to ensure Care Professionals are prepared to meet company standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
Primary ResponsibilitiesCare Professional Onboarding
- Own and coordinate the Care Professional onboarding process from offer acceptance through completion of required orientation and training.
- Create a welcoming, organized, and professional onboarding experience for new Care Professionals.
- Schedule and facilitate new-hire orientation, introductory meetings, required training, and competency evaluations.
- Clearly communicate onboarding expectations, timelines, required documentation, training requirements, and next steps.
- Ensure new Care Professionals understand company policies, procedures, values, service expectations, communication standards, and workplace responsibilities.
- Coordinate onboarding activities with operations, scheduling, leadership, and other appropriate team members.
- Monitor each new hire’s progress and follow up promptly on incomplete requirements, missed training, or outstanding documentation.
- Maintain onboarding checklists and ensure all required steps are completed before a Care Professional begins or continues providing services, as applicable.
Training & Competency Development
- Deliver, coordinate, and support initial and ongoing training for Care Professionals.
- Provide instruction on caregiving expectations, client safety, infection prevention, emergency procedures, documentation, communication, boundaries, confidentiality, and other required topics.
- Ensure training is practical, engaging, understandable, and appropriate for Care Professionals with varying levels of experience.
- Demonstrate care techniques, workplace procedures, and service standards when appropriate and within the scope of the role.
- Coordinate competency evaluations, skills demonstrations, return demonstrations, and other required validation processes.
- Work with clinical, operational, or other qualified team members when training or competency validation requires specialized expertise or licensed oversight.
- Identify individual and group training needs based on performance, client needs, incidents, feedback, audits, policy changes, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide refresher training, remedial education, coaching, and follow-up when additional support is needed.
- Support continuing education and professional development opportunities for Care Professionals.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training and recommend improvements to content, delivery methods, and follow-up processes.
- Keep training materials, handouts, presentations, checklists, and resources accurate and up to date.
Ongoing Care Professional Support
- Serve as a primary resource for Care Professionals regarding onboarding, training, procedures, documentation, and general questions related to performing their role.
- Provide ongoing coaching and reinforcement of company expectations after onboarding is complete.
- Help Care Professionals build confidence and competence in providing services to clients.
- Follow up with new Care Professionals during their first weeks and months of employment to answer questions, identify challenges, and reinforce expectations.
- Communicate recurring questions, performance concerns, or training needs to appropriate leadership.
- Promote a culture of learning, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
- Support Care Professionals in understanding how their work contributes to client safety, satisfaction, and quality of care.
Training Records & Compliance
- Maintain complete and accurate training records for all Care Professionals.
- Track orientation completion, training attendance, competency evaluations, certifications, continuing education, and required renewals.
- Monitor upcoming and expired training or certification requirements and coordinate completion before deadlines.
- Maintain organized onboarding and training files in accordance with company procedures and applicable requirements.
- Review records regularly for missing, incomplete, or expired documentation and follow up promptly.
- Assist with audits of personnel, onboarding, training, and competency records.
- Support corrective action plans related to incomplete training, documentation deficiencies, or competency concerns.
- Ensure training practices and records align with company policies, applicable regulatory standards, and client service requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of employee, client, and company information.
Hiring Process Support
- Support the hiring process by coordinating the transition from offer acceptance to onboarding.
- Communicate onboarding, training, and performance expectations to newly hired Care Professionals.
- Coordinate required pre-employment and pre-onboarding documentation and screenings, including reference checks, criminal background checks, motor vehicle record checks, drug screenings, and other required verifications.
- Confirm that required hiring documentation is complete before onboarding begins or employment proceeds, as applicable.
- Maintain timely communication with newly hired Care Professionals regarding onboarding requirements, schedules, training, and next steps.
- Track the status of newly hired Care Professionals and coordinate the transition from hiring to onboarding with appropriate team members.
- Communicate hiring-related documentation or compliance concerns to leadership.
- Provide feedback to leadership regarding onboarding readiness, documentation gaps, or training considerations for newly hired Care Professionals.
HR Administration
- Create and maintain accurate employee and training records.
- Ensure required employment documentation is completed, including Form I-9, Form W-4, acknowledgments, policies, certifications, and other required documents.
- Review employee files for completeness and follow up on missing or expiring documentation.
- Assist with employee status changes, HR documentation, and other administrative functions as assigned.
- Communicate documentation, training, or compliance concerns to appropriate leadership.
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information appropriately.
Communication & Collaboration
- Maintain open, timely, and professional communication with Care Professionals, newly hired employees, leadership, colleagues, clients, and other appropriate partners.
- Partner with operations and scheduling teams to align onboarding and training with staffing needs and service requirements.
- Collaborate with leadership to address performance concerns, training gaps, policy changes, and employee development needs.
- Coordinate with appropriate subject-matter experts to ensure training content is accurate and effective.
- Promote consistent communication and expectations across the organization.
Quality & Process Improvement
- Monitor onboarding and training processes for opportunities to improve consistency, efficiency, engagement, and employee readiness.
- Develop and maintain standardized onboarding checklists, training schedules, competency tools, and follow-up processes.
- Gather feedback from new and existing Care Professionals to improve the training experience.
- Track training outcomes and identify trends that may affect service quality, retention, compliance, or client satisfaction.
- Recommend improvements to training programs, policies, procedures, and employee support resources.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, business ethics, confidentiality standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Perform additional training, onboarding, HR, hiring-support, and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Previous experience in training, employee onboarding, caregiving, healthcare, home care, senior care, human resources, or a related field preferred.
- Experience teaching, coaching, mentoring, facilitating groups, or developing training materials preferred.
- Experience in home care, healthcare, senior care, or another regulated environment is strongly preferred.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, coaching, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to explain procedures and expectations clearly to individuals with varying levels of experience and learning styles.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple onboarding and training priorities.
- Excellent attention to detail, particularly when maintaining training, competency, certification, and compliance records.
- Ability to build trust and rapport with Care Professionals while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
- Comfortable conducting orientations, training sessions, skills demonstrations, competency evaluations, and follow-up coaching.
- Ability to recognize when additional clinical, operational, or leadership support is needed.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive employee and client information.
- Proficiency with HR platforms, applicant tracking systems, Microsoft Office, learning management systems, and other business software.
- Ability to learn and consistently apply company policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

The HR & Training Coordinator is a key leader in preparing and supporting the Care Professional workforce. Through thorough onboarding, effective training, ongoing coaching, and accurate compliance tracking, this position helps ensure Care Professionals are confident, capable, and equipped to provide safe, compassionate, and exceptional service.
Pay: $43,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
