Job Purpose: The Staff Nurse (RN) is a professional care provider who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients. The RN will provide care to those patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and coordination with other health care team members, taking into account the individual patient's special physical or age-related needs. The Staff Nurse (RN) coordinates total nursing care for patients, participates in patient and family teaching, and provides leadership by working cooperatively with other disciplines in maintaining standards for professional nursing and hospital practice in the clinical setting, taking into account the individual patient's special physical or age-related needs.
Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Possess current NYS license for Registered Professional Nurse. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification to be obtained within the first six (6) months of transfer or hire. Telemetry Certification and Critical Care module to include dialysis, assigned and completed within the first year of employment. Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within the the first year of employment. TNCC and ENPC is recommended.
Experience: One of more years' experience in acute care nursing. American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
