Duties
- Safely operate a variety of trucks including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tanker trucks, dump trucks, roll-off trucks, and other commercial vehicles to deliver freight across designated routes.
- Load and unload cargo efficiently using forklifts or manual handling techniques, ensuring proper securing of loads to prevent damage during transit.
- Drive route schedules with precision, adhering to traffic laws and safety regulations to ensure on-time deliveries.
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after trips, reporting any mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, logs, and reports for all shipments and routes.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers to coordinate delivery times and resolve any issues that arise during transit.
- Follow all safety protocols related to operating specialized equipment such as refrigerated units, flatbeds, tankers, or dump trucks.
Experience
- Proven experience as a delivery driver or in a similar truck driving role with a strong understanding of freight handling and route driving.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to the vehicle types operated (manual transmission experience is a plus).
- Experience operating various trucks including tractor-trailers, refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, dump trucks, or roll-off trucks preferred.
- Familiarity with load securing techniques and equipment such as forklifts or roll-off mechanisms.
- Knowledge of safety regulations related to commercial driving and freight transportation.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as loading/unloading cargo and handling freight in different environments.
