Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Elevator Mechanic – Modernization Specialist to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in upgrading and modernizing elevator systems, including both proprietary and non-proprietary equipment. This role focuses on replacing outdated systems with state-of-the-art components, improving safety, reliability, and performance for our clients.
Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years of verifiable elevator experience, hold a valid CC License or equivalent state elevator mechanic’s license, and demonstrate expert knowledge of modernization processes, including controllers, motors, drives, door operators, and machine room upgrades. Top-level candidates may be eligible for relocation assistance and short-term housing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform full elevator modernization projects from start to finish, including removal of old components and installation of new systems.
- Upgrade and install controllers, motors, VFDs, door operators, signal fixtures, and safety devices.
- Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer specifications.
- Coordinate with project managers to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Conduct adjustments, final checks, and performance testing to meet ASME A17.1 and local code requirements.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including part usage and compliance reports.
- Maintain a clean and safe job site at all times.
Requirements:
- Valid CC License (Certified Competent Elevator Mechanic) or out of state-recognized elevator mechanic license.
- 5–8+ years of verifiable elevator experience, with a strong background in modernization.
- Advanced knowledge of elevator electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency with multiple elevator brands (Otis, Schindler, KONE, TK, etc.).
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work in confined spaces or at heights.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Willingness to travel or work after hours when required.
Preferred:
- CET or NEIEP certification.
- Knowledge of advanced control systems and smart elevator technology.
- Experience leading a modernization crew.
