The Mortgage Insurance & Loan Delivery Analyst plays a critical operational role within the Secondary Marketing / Capital Markets team. This position is responsible for the end-to-end management of Private Mortgage Insurance (PMI) ordering and validation, as well as the accurate, timely submission of Uniform Loan Delivery Dataset (ULDD) files to Fannie Mae (FNMA) and Freddie Mac (FHLMC). The ideal candidate possesses exceptional attention to detail, strong data analytics skills, and a deep understanding of agency delivery guidelines and mortgage insurance requirements.
1. Mortgage Insurance (MI) Operations
- MI Ordering & Tracking: Submit and manage orders for MI certificates with approved mortgage insurance providers (e.g., Radian, Enact, MGIC, Essent, Arch, National MI) upon loan approval or closing.
- Certificate Validation: Review issued MI certificates against final loan documentation to ensure 100% accuracy in coverage percentage, premium type, borrower details, loan terms, and rate structures.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Partner with underwriting, processing, and MI vendors to resolve data mismatches, coverage discrepancies, or delayed certificates prior to delivery.
- MI Pipeline Management: Monitor and maintain the active MI pipeline to guarantee all required primary and secondary MI certificates are activated and bound before loan purchase or securitization.
2. Agency Loan Delivery (ULDD)
- ULDD File Generation & Formatting: Extract, build, and format XML data files in compliance with GSE ULDD Phase 3/4 requirements for Fannie Mae (Loan Delivery) and Freddie Mac (Selling System).
- Data Integrity & Reconciliation: Audit loan data across the Loan Origination System (LOS) and ULDD files to ensure precision in critical data points (e.g., LTV/CLTV, credit scores, LLPA identifiers, occupancy, property type, and MI coverage details).
- GSE Submission & Error Clearance: Upload loan pools to FNMA and FHLMC platforms, actively troubleshooting and resolving critical edits, warnings, and delivery exceptions prior to purchase certification.
- Pool & Commitment Matching: Reconcile loans against mandatory commitments, execution paths, or agency swap pools to ensure accurate pricing, fee structures, and delivery compliance. 3. Cross-Functional Support & Compliance
- Post-Purchase Reconciliations: Work with post-closing and investor clearing teams to resolve purchase condition notices, trailing MI document requests, or agency loan delivery edits.
- Process Optimization: Identify pipeline bottlenecks, automate data checks where possible, and assist in updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) for loan delivery and MI processing.
- Audit Preparation: Maintain complete audit trails and documentation for agency QC reviews and internal/external operational audits.
This is a full-time, office-based position in a modern, cozy environment in our Troy, MI office.
Our standard working hours are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, promoting a healthy work-life balance.
1-3 years of experience in mortgage operations, secondary marketing, loan delivery, or post-closing functions.
Agency Knowledge: Direct experience working with Fannie Mae Loan Delivery and Freddie Mac Selling System, including familiarity with ULDD data specifications is preferred.
MI Provider Expertise: Hands-on experience ordering and validating certificates via major MI vendor portals or automated LOS integrations is preferred.
System Skills: Proficiency with Loan Origination Systems (e.g., Encompass, Byte, Empower) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data reconciliation formulas) is preferred
Detail Orientation: Exceptional analytical skills with a zero-defect mindset when auditing financial data fields.
Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills for resolving discrepancies with internal teams, MI representatives, and investor contacts.
