American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Behavioral Health position requiring MOAB and BLS certification with a NM or compact RN license.

1 Trauma, teaching hospital setting

Behavioral Health unit caring for adult and geriatric patients
-
Patient diagnoses include depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, ASD, TBI, and neurocognitive disorders

Patient ratio of 1:8

Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
-
36 hours per week

Weekend shifts required depending on unit needs

Floating required between two Adult Psych units and geriatric units
-
No on-call requirements

Cerner EMR used for charting

MOAB certification required, or willingness to complete facility-provided MOAB training during orientation week
-
Minimum 1 year of experience required
-
Active NM or compact RN license required
-
Pending license accepted
-
Non-local driver's license required on file
-
Skills in medication administration including antianxiety, antidepressant, antipsychotic, mood stabilizer, and sedative/analgesic medications
-
Experience caring for patients with anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, PTSD, schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, substance use, and suicidal or self-injurious behavior
-
Proficiency in crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and managing assaultive behavior
-
Knowledge of seclusion protocols, physical hold protocols, and voluntary/involuntary commitment procedures
-
Provide direct psychiatric nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a locked inpatient unit
-
Utilize therapeutic approaches including behavior management techniques and electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) support
-
Perform clinical skills such as blood glucose monitoring, Foley catheter insertion/management, and NG tube insertion/management as needed
-
