Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller/Credentialing Specialist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process for medical services, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. This role is crucial in maintaining the financial health of our practice while providing excellent service to our patients and insurance providers.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit accurate medical billing claims to insurance companies and government payers.
- Review and verify patient information, medical records, and insurance coverage to ensure proper billing.
- Utilize medical coding systems, including ICD-10, codes, to accurately code diagnoses and procedures.
- Follow up on unpaid claims, resolve discrepancies, and conduct medical collections as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives regarding billing inquiries.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations and coding practices to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing and credentialing within a medical office setting. Experience in a mental health setting prefered.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9), and DRG classifications.
- Familiarity with medical records management and the healthcare reimbursement process.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
