(Position within the 1491 Collective Bargaining Unit)
General Duties and Responsibilities
The Driver/Operator will work under the direction of the DPS Director, Assistant Director, Foreman or their designee. Hours are Monday through Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm. Employees in this department are on call 7 days per week 24 hours per day.
General duties include but are not limited to the following.
Drive various pieces of equipment as assigned daily.
Perform manual labor and complete jobs on site and operate other tools as may be required for the work being performed (ie: jackhammer, saws, hoses, pumps and other special equipment).
Perform daily maintenance and seasonal maintenance of equipment used.
Work during inclement weather as outlined in the union contract, includes but not limited to snow plowing/sanding, cutting and/or removing downed trees, flooding events, hurricanes blizzards etc.
Operate light and heavy trucks, snowplows, Vactor truck, Sewer jet, Sewer Camera, tractor and other contractor and power drive equipment as assigned.
Other duties and tasks at the direction of the DPS Director, Assistant Director or designee.
Qualifications:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with superiors, associates and the general public.
Ability to take direct orders and responsibility for the work being done.
Able to perform outside work involving frequent standing, walking, exposure to cold, snow, rain and heat.
Able to perform heavy lifting as required to move manhole covers, drain covers and certain pieces of equipment.
Able to complete paperwork pertaining to vehicle inspection forms, various work slips.
Be available for callback or carryover for off-hour emergencies as outlined in the Union Contract.
Ability to work under emergency conditions year-round.
Ability to pass a DOT physical examination, including a background and drug test.
Must maintain CDL license throughout the duration of employment.
Pass a physical exam certifying physical ability to perform duties.

Pay: $25.16 per hour
