Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable, organized, and customer-focused Referral & Insurance Verification Specialist to join our team. Experience is preferred; however, enthusiastic, positive individuals are encouraged to apply. This position plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth patient experience by managing referrals, verifying insurance benefits, scheduling initial evaluations, and preparing patient information within our electronic medical records (EMR) system.
This Referral/Insurance Verification Specialist is a part-time position, consisting of working 4-6 hrs. a per day, Monday through Friday. Candidate must have great phone etiquette and communication skills to succeed in this position.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain incoming patient referrals.
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits for scheduled patients.
- Enter and maintain accurate patient information in the EMR system.
- Schedule patient appointments and coordinate referrals.
- Communicate effectively with Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, staff, patients, and referring providers.
- Answer incoming phone calls professionally and courteously - as needed.
- Collect patient payments and assist with front desk operations – as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Professional phone etiquette.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Experience with insurance verification is preferred but not required.
- Experience in a medical office, physical therapy clinic, or healthcare setting is a plus.
- Basic computer and EMR system proficiency preferred.

Requirements
- Ability to reliably commute to Augusta, GA 30904 or relocate before starting work.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
- Position requires in-person attendance.
