Duties
- Assist with meal preparation by chopping, slicing, and assembling ingredients according to recipes and standards
- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen stations, utensils, and equipment to ensure a safe and efficient workspace
- Support the cooking process by following directions from head chefs or kitchen managers to prepare dishes accurately and timely
- Handle food safely by adhering to proper food handling procedures and sanitation guidelines
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, and kitchen tools efficiently to keep the kitchen running smoothly
- Help with inventory management by organizing supplies and notifying supervisors of stock needs
Experience
- Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is preferred but not required; enthusiasm for learning is key
- Familiarity with food industry standards related to food safety, handling, and sanitation practices
- Basic knife skills and experience with meal preparation are advantageous
- Exposure to dietary department or dietary aide roles adds valuable insight into specialized food service needs
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team are essential for success in this role
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs when needed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
