Job Overview
ZINEniac is seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and dependable Community Support Driver to provide safe and reliable transportation for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). This role is essential in helping participants access educational programs, community activities, medical appointments, employment opportunities, and other meaningful destinations while promoting independence, dignity, and community inclusion.

Responsibilities
- Safely operate passenger vans, wheelchair-accessible vehicles, shuttle buses, or other approved transportation vehicles.
- Transport participants to and from ZINEniac programs, medical appointments, community outings, educational activities, employment sites, and other approved destinations.
- Assist participants with boarding and exiting vehicles while encouraging independence and ensuring their safety.
- Properly secure wheelchairs, mobility devices, and passenger safety equipment when required.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
- Maintain clean, organized, and well-maintained vehicles that provide a comfortable environment for participants.
- Keep accurate transportation logs, mileage records, attendance, and incident reports.
- Communicate professionally with participants, families, supervisors, and dispatch personnel regarding schedules and transportation needs.
- Follow all company policies, New Jersey Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) requirements, and applicable federal and state transportation regulations.
- Respond calmly and appropriately during emergencies while prioritizing participant safety at all times.
Experience
Required
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED or higher.
- Must be minimum 21 years of age or older.
- Must have a valid New Jersey Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass all required background checks and motor vehicle record (MVR) screening.
- Have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Have strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to assist clients with mobility needs and safely lift or move mobility equipment when necessary.
Preferred
- Experience transporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, seniors, or individuals with special needs.
- Previous experience as a shuttle driver, delivery driver, school bus driver, paratransit driver, limousine driver, or commercial passenger driver.
- Experience operating wheelchair-accessible vehicles.
- CPR and First Aid Certification.
- Defensive Driving Certification.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement is preferred but not required.
Pay Structure
- This role is a 1099 - Independent Contractor, not a W-2.
