Position Overview
A well-established multidisciplinary architecture and engineering consulting firm is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join its Building Engineering group.
This individual will oversee complex building design projects involving multiple engineering and architectural disciplines. The successful candidate will be responsible for project delivery, client relationships, financial performance and coordination between internal teams and external consultants.
This opportunity is suited to an experienced engineering or architecture professional who enjoys leading teams, managing client relationships and delivering medium to large projects from proposal through completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage projects according to agreed scope, schedule, budget and quality requirements.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams consisting of engineering, architecture and specialty-consulting professionals.
- Coordinate internal staff, external consultants, contractors and client representatives.
- Prepare and negotiate project scopes, fees, schedules, contracts and subcontractor agreements.
- Monitor project financial performance, staffing requirements and overall progress.
- Lead client meetings, design coordination meetings and project presentations.
- Develop proposals and support the pursuit of new projects.
- Build and maintain long term client relationships.
- Provide quality control oversight throughout design and project delivery.
- Identify project risks and resolve schedule, budget or coordination concerns.
- Provide technical guidance within the candidate’s area of expertise.
- Mentor developing project managers, engineers and technical staff.
- Support business development and client retention initiatives.
Required Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following experience and education combinations:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture or a closely related discipline, with at least seven years of relevant project experience; or
- At least eleven years of relevant professional experience without a four year degree.
Candidates must also have:
- At least seven years of direct project management experience.
- Experience managing building design or building engineering projects.
- Experience controlling project scope, schedules, budgets and consultant coordination.
- Strong communication, organization and problem solving abilities.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and work with limited supervision.
- A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel occasionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer licence or architectural registration.
- Experience managing medium to large multidisciplinary projects.
- Background in mechanical, electrical, structural, architectural or integrated building systems.
- Experience preparing proposals, scopes and project pricing.
- Demonstrated client management or business development experience.
- Experience supervising and mentoring junior staff.
- Experience with quality control and design review processes.
- LEED, WELL or a comparable sustainability credential.
- Familiarity with modern productivity and automation tools.

Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated base salary range is $120,000–$150,000, depending on experience, qualifications and location.
