Job Description:
Pacific Tech Communications Inc. is hiring an experienced Fiber Splicer for ongoing work in the Austin market. We are actively supporting large-scale telecom projects and are looking for someone reliable, detail-oriented, and confident working in the field.
This role is hands-on — you’ll be responsible for delivering clean, high-quality splicing work across aerial and underground fiber networks.
Responsibilities:
- Perform fiber splicing on aerial and underground fiber systems
- Read and interpret splice diagrams, fiber maps, and construction prints
- Prep, splice, and test fiber (single-mode)
- Conduct testing using OTDR and power meters
- Troubleshoot and resolve fiber issues in the field
- Maintain accurate documentation (test results, as-builts, daily reports)
- Coordinate with crews, supervisors, and project managers
Requirements:
- Experience as a fiber splicer in telecom construction
- Strong understanding of fiber splicing and testing procedures
- Ability to read and follow fiber prints and schematics
- Experience with OTDR and testing equipment
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to work outdoors and travel locally
Preferred (not required):
- Experience with Lumen projects
- Background working with major carriers (AT&T, etc.)
- Bucket truck experience is a plus
