Position Summary
The Electrical Journeyman is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local codes, and company safety standards. This position requires a highly skilled electrician with strong technical knowledge, leadership abilities, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
Essential Responsibilities
. Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment
. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings
. Install conduit, wiring, panels, switchgear, lighting, and electrical devices
. Test electrical systems and identify issues using appropriate diagnostic equipment
. Ensure all work complies with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building codes
. Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, and other trades to maintain project schedules
. Maintain accurate documentation of work completed and materials used
. Mentor apprentices and less experienced electricians
. Follow all OSHA regulations and company safety policies
. Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
. Valid Journeyman Electrician License (as required by state or local regulations)
. 5–10 years of electrical experience in commercial, multi-family, or residential construction
. Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
. Ability to read blueprints and electrical schematics
. Experience with electrical troubleshooting and repairs
. Strong problem-solving and communication skills
. Ability to work independently and as part of a team
. Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on ladders, lifts, and in varying weather conditions
Preferred
. OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
. Experience supervising apprentices or small crews
