Sushi Chef Job Description
Compensation range: $21-$30/ (+ Tips) Tips range from $8/hour - $15/hour depending on business volume and skill level.
Approximately $30-$45 (Included Tips) projected earnings.

Job purpose of Sushi Chef at Kuro Nami Japanese Kitchen
To manage daily company BOH / Sushi operations to ensure a positive, safe, and profitable working environment and to direct, control, and organize your department / station. You will need to be a problem solver with a strong work ethic and exceptional leadership skills.
The Sushi Chef understands that customer satisfaction always takes top priority and that a pleasant, efficient restaurant operation with a properly trained and motivated supporting staff makes that possible. Knowing that your energy, attitude, and overall enthusiasm as a station leader will set the standard for the team. The Chef will always act in the best interest of the company, its team, its associates, its guests, its community, and its ownership.
SUSHI CHEF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- At least 2+ years of experience preferred.
- Expertise in fine dining service and Japanese cuisine.
- Must have excellent knife skills and attention to detail.
- Provide an exceptional dining guest experience and producing a consistent product.
- Must have prior knowledge in breaking down and preparing all types of fish.
- Must have prior knowledge in preparing and making sushi (nigiri, sashimi, as well as rolls).
- Able to work fast, organized, and efficiently (taking into account portion, cost control, sanitation, and cleanliness).
- Knows and complies consistently with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies, and procedures.
- Cleanliness and organized (i.e sharpening knife, keeping the station clean at all times).
- Excellent communication skills; Must be able to follow directions, as well as be a team player.
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL POSITIONS:
- Must be able to work nights.
- Constant walking and standing.
- Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours)
- Ability to reach, bend, and frequently lift up to 25 pounds.
- Regularly required to use hands and frequent washing of hands.
- Maintain clean and polished look, and clean hygiene.
Pay: $21.00 - $45.00 per hour
