The Branch Specialist supports both teller line operations and customer service needs within the branch. This position performs a wide range of banking transactions, from routine cash handling to assisting customers in an office setting with account openings/updates, wire transfers, consumer loan requests and other account-related functions.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain working knowledge of all Bank products, including their benefits, requirements and related policies, procedures and regulations
- Perform an extensive variety of customer transactions in accordance with Bank policies, procedures and regulations
- Recognize customer needs and refer appropriate bank products to support growth in our customer base
- Originate new customer accounts and/or perform a variety of maintenance updates required within the compliance standards
- Accurately processes large amounts of cash in an organized, timely, and accurate manner
- Balances own cash drawer daily within the prescribed balancing guidelines
- Prepare and review customer wire transfer requests
- Initiate, process, and close various consumer loans
- Adhere to branch security practices and guidelines (secures workstation, keys, combinations, customer information, etc.) and regulatory compliance
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance for all new accounts and account maintenance
- Support fraud prevention by adhering to security procedures and educating customers as needed
- Demonstrate strong customer service skills to promote a positive representation of the Bank in both in-person and telephone interactions
- Perform other duties as needed or assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Possess a High School diploma or its equivalent
- 1-2 years of banking experience preferred
- Prior customer service and cash handling experience preferred
- General math skills: adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Work collaboratively with a positive, professional attitude towards customers and coworkers
- Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel to other Pittsfield Cooperative Bank locations as needed
- Ability to perform teller or platform duties on Saturday’s as scheduled
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time
- Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. on occasion
