SENIOR PURCHASING AGENT
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
· Maintain and continually develop MRP system.
· Oversee purchasing requirements for all areas of company.
· Manage and maintain Approved Supplier List.
· Create Purchase Orders for raw materials, components and outside processes (OV) using an ERP system to meet customer/schedule demand.
· Purchase highly complex and/or high value materials, supplies and services.
· Evaluate bids, select and recommend supplier and negotiate price, delivery, quality and service.
· Maintain cost visibility for all controllable purchases.
· Negotiate any applicable long-term agreements with suppliers while working with Senior Management.
· Manage inventory levels for purchased product.
· Responsible for procurement status follow-up expedite where required.
· Request and obtain corrected certificates if needed.
· Recommend actions to improve quality and efficiency of purchasing processes.
· May be required to conduct supplier site visits and rate them as to production capability, performance and delivery.
· Perform multiple tasks when assigned by supervisor/manager.
· Perform additional Production Control or Purchasing duties as prescribed by supervisor/manager.
· Participate in Supplier Review Team to evaluate suppliers and coordinate improvement activities.
SKILLS REQUIRED
· Strong materials and purchasing knowledge.
· Knowledge of raw materials.
· Knowledge of internal and external processing/services.
· Ability to read, interpret and understand mechanical engineering drawings, parts lists and Bills of Material (BOM).
· Computer skills.
· Interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with suppliers, customers and personnel.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Responsible for safe operation of computer and office equipment.
· Responsible for maintaining a neat, organized work area.
· Responsible for proper handling of raw material and manufactured product.
· Responsible for personal safety as well as the safety of all people in the area
· Perform multiple tasks when assigned by supervisor/manager
· Cross train on any task assigned, as determined necessary by supervisor/manager
· May require moderate lifting (50 lbs. Max)
· Keep work area neat and clean
· Works closely with other employees when job requires
· Work in cooperation with Production Control, Manufacturing Supervisors, Program Managers and Management personnel
· Notify supervisor/manager of problems with jobs, or equipment
Experience / Education
· 5 years purchasing/buying experience is desired.
· 5 years of manufacturing industry experience is desired.
· High school graduate or higher required.

Pay: $23.00 - $33.00 per hour
