Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. Position Summary:
Under the direction of the Clinical Practice Manager, the Lead Medical Assistant will perform routine patient care, technical and supportive functions in a medical clinic setting. The Lead Medical Assistant will function within the scope of practice as described by the State of California Board. Acts as a preceptor/mentor to other Medical Assistants and is a subject matter expert in Medical Assistant functions. This position will demonstrate strong leadership and clinical skills. The lead MA is expected to participate in continuous improvements in quality and the patient experience. This position will model, train, and promote high functioning clinical support staff from all experience levels.
Essential Functions:

1. Leadership
a. Assist the clinical staff in achieving clinical excellence and promoting a positive work environment.
b. This position will act as a “subject matter expert” in roles, duties, scope of practice, and workflows of the Medical Assistant team.
c. Mentor/train the Medical Assistant team to continually improve performance and skill level.
d. Models a culture of safety and communication. Ensures that the Medical Assistants are following policies and protocols.
e. Assist in trainings and completion of staff competencies.
f. Perform administrative tasks assigned by the clinic manager.
g. Coordinate inventory and stocking of medical supplies.
h. Reasonable and predictable in person attendance.
2. Quality
a. Review charts, lab results, and encounters for completeness and assess follow-up as needed to close care gaps.
b. Track logs
c. Works collaboratively with clinic staff on programs to improve patient outcomes. Assist in organizing and participating in quality improvement activities.
3. Patient Experience
a. Demonstrate and model excellent customer service skills and assist the managers and other clinical staff in providing timely resolution to patient concerns as needed.
b. Ensure that care provided to the patients is patient-centered and mission-focused. This position will continuously look to seek improvements and help implement best practices.
c. Assist in the development of processes to reduce wait times, address barriers, and other concerns to increase efficiency.
4. Clinical
a. Assist with covering the needs of the Clinic by providing direct support to the providers in the instance of staff call-outs and PTO.
b. Perform all functions of the Medical Assistant role as outlined in the Medical Assistant job description.
c. Provide back-up support for the Medical Assistant team, which includes all functions of a Medical Assistant.
Qualifications:
1. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program is required.
2. At least two (2) years of experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient setting, preferably in an urgent care setting.
3. Proven experience in a supervisory or lead position in an outpatient setting preferred.
4. Possess and maintain a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Card (required).
5. Possess and maintain a California Driver’s license.
6. Ability to effectively communicate, advise, teach, and guide preceptees.
7. Work collaboratively with a team, supporting each team member, and working towards one common goal.
8. Respect and understand that as a healthcare professional, the Medical Assistant provides competent support within the scope of practice as set forth by the Medical Board of California, with compassion and respect for human diversity and dignity.
9 Provide services with full respect of the rights of patients and colleagues, and safeguard patient confidence and privacy in accordance with the law, including but not limited to HIPAA compliance requirements.
10. Practice the profession with honesty, integrity, and accountability, respecting all laws and regulations and avoiding any false, fraudulent, or deceptive activities.
11. Continue to learn, maintaining and improving all knowledge and skills necessary for the ever-changing healthcare environment.
12. Work collaboratively with a team, supporting each team member, and working towards one common goal.

Pay: $25.00 per hour
