Job Summary
The Cook position prepares and cooks to order foods, requiring short preparation times for patient room service orders. Prepares and serves food for home-delivered meal patrons, staff, visitors and patients, following physician diet orders. Uses standardized recipes in an attractive and safe manner, following ServSafe guidelines for the Culinary Services Department.
Compensation
We are committed to providing wage ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on experience, education and internal equity considerations. The hourly wage range for this position is $16.66–$23.52. This range reflects the base salary for this position.
Key Accountabilities
Prepare and cook in a timely manner following ServSafe guidelines.
Safely operates food service equipment
Coordinates recipes and meal count to provide for minimal leftovers.
Interpret therapeutic diet orders according to age, allergies and preferences.
Make frequent, independent decisions relative to schedule changes and food substitutions.
Interpret written directions, food production guides, menus and recipes.
Organize Meals on Wheels Trays and Coolers for tray line.
Accepts and participates in the completion of catered assignments.
Monitor and record food supply and storage unit temperatures
Store and rotate food according ServSafe guidelines
Daily scheduled sanitation assignments in the work area
Qualifications
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Read, write and speak English
Comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions, complete simple calculations
Basic computer literacy
Strong organizational skills
Excellent customer service skills
2 years of quantity cooking experience and/or restaurant experience preferred
