TRANSPORTATION SPECIALIST
PART-TIME, HOURLY / COLUMBIA, SC
Position reports to Sr. Director of Community-Based Services / Director of Transportation Services.
South Carolina Youth Advocate Program (SCYAP) is a youth and family serving organization seeking administrative support for its transportation services department. Candidates should have strong organizational, customer service, and people management skills. This role will be responsible for elements of operations and administrative tasks that help facilitate the provision of transportation services for clients. This position schedules and coordinates transportation requests; communicates with drivers, clients, staff, and referral sources; and helps ensure compliance with company, referral source, and applicable transportation requirements. In addition, candidates must have the ability to remain calm and exhibit tact in stressful and/or delicate situations, and must have the ability to handle confidential issues with discretion.
Duties include, but may not be limited to: coordinating daily transportation schedules, routes, pickups/dropoffs; communicating schedules and changes to drivers, clients, staff, and appropriate parties in a professional manner; monitoring services and responding promptly to delays, cancellations, or scheduling issues; protecting confidential information; maintaining accurate transportation records, mileage records, and related documentation; entering information accurately and timely into appropriate transportation/client databases for quality assurance/billing purposes; ensuring transportation activities follow appropriate company policies, safety procedures, and regulations; reporting incidents/safety concerns promptly according to established procedures; assisting with driver training, orientation, scheduling and documentation as needed; performing other duties as needed.
Position Requirements:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond effectively to changing transportation needs to effectively manage schedules of multiple providers while acting as liaison with internal and external contacts
- Strong organizational, customer service and people management skills
- Ability to pass appropriate background checks
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data management systems, and electronic medical records (EMR)
General work schedule: Monday - Friday from 12 noon - 5 pm (5 days per week). Columbia, SC / in-office.
