Defense Attorney
Location: Garden City, NY (Hybrid)
Salary: $135,000 – $195,000+ (dependent on experience)

A nationally recognized defense litigation firm with offices across the United States is seeking a Defense Attorney to join its Garden City team. The firm is known for its collaborative culture and commitment to excellence, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, client service, and innovation.
The Role
This position offers the opportunity to handle a diverse caseload of personal injury defense matters, with significant responsibility and client interaction from the outset.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage personal injury defense cases from investigation through resolution
- Conduct claim investigations, working closely with clients, witnesses, and paralegal support
- Evaluate medical records and assess causation, including interaction with medical professionals
- Handle hearings, including 50-h hearings, depositions (taking and defending), and court appearances
- Oversee discovery, ensuring compliance with CPLR rules and managing the exchange of information
- Lead settlement discussions, mediations, and other ADR proceedings
- Develop and execute case strategies aimed at efficient and effective resolution
Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school
- Admission to the New York Bar required
- 3+ years of experience defending personal injury matters in New York Supreme Courts
- Experience with Labor Law 200, 240(1), and 241(6), as well as premises liability claims
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely present key arguments
- Experience with legal project management is a plus
