JOB The Plover Deck Hand supports customer service and deck operations aboard a City vessel under the direction of the Vessel Captain and Senior Deck Hand. This position serves as an ambassador for the City of Blaine by helping ensure passengers receive a safe, informative, and positive experience. The position requires physical stamina, the ability to learn and perform maritime operational tasks, strong customer service skills, and the ability to respond appropriately to emergency situations. Job-specific instruction will be provided. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES The duties listed below are representative of the principal responsibilities of the position.

Follow all lawful orders and directions of the Vessel Captain and Senior Deck Hand.

Assist with passenger check-in, boarding, loading, unloading, and general passenger management.

Provide courteous, professional customer service to passengers of all ages and support delivery of information regarding the local area and history, as assigned.

Perform deck and line-handling duties on the vessel and pier, including securing and tending lines and assisting with docking operations under supervision.

Participate in required safety briefings and drills and respond to shipboard emergencies (including man overboard, fire, flooding, and anchoring) in accordance with established procedures and direction.

Maintain vessel cleanliness and appearance, including removing trash and performing cleaning and other upkeep tasks as assigned and trained.
Perform other duties of a similar nature or level of responsibility as assigned by the Vessel Captain, Senior Deck Hand, or Operations Manager. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Part-time, Seasonal, Non—Exempt
Approximately 20 to 40 hours per week
Required availability Thursday through Sunday, May through September. Other workdays may be possible.
