Veterinary Assistant, Emergency
Location: Grand Rapids, MI
Schedule: Part Time & Full Time Available | FT Hours Are 3 Twelve Hour Shifts Per Week - Evening/Mid-Shift Availability Required | Shift Bid Every 6 Months | Rotating Weekends & 3/6 Holidays
Compensation: $17-25 per hour, depending on experience and skillset | $3/hour shift differential for the hours worked between 11pm-7am

In Your Day-To-Day, You Will-
Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments and procedures.

Perform technical tasks; IVC placement, medication administration, radiology, anesthesia monitoring, patient monitoring, etc.

Monitor anesthesia using ECG, SpO2, EtCO2, and NIBP.

Provide pre- and post-surgical care and assist with surgical prep and recovery for patients.

Handle and process laboratory samples for submission to local and offsite labs.

Accurately obtain and relay detailed patient histories.

Document records, treatment and diagnostics into systems (EzyVet and SmartFlow).

Communicate effectively with clients on treatment plans, estimates, and discharge instructions including callbacks and updates.

Educate and communicate with clients regarding their pet's condition, treatment plans, review of estimates, and follow-up care.

Support hospital cleanliness, safety protocols and inventory management.

Additional duties as requested by hospital leadership.
