Job description: Charger Cafe, a longstanding café at Cypress College, is reopening under a new operating team from California Dining Services, continuing to serve students, faculty, and staff with freshly prepared meals in a fast-paced and welcoming environment. Our management team brings over 100 years of combined experience in corporate and campus dining and hospitality. We are passionate about delivering great food while creating a supportive workplace where team members can grow their culinary careers.
This is an exciting opportunity to join the team as Charger Cafe prepares for its grand opening on August 20, 2026.
Work Schedule
- Hours: Monday–Thursday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM; Friday, 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- Some shifts may start slightly earlier or run slightly later depending on prep/close duties
- Closed weekends and college holidays/breaks
This schedule provides a great work-life balance for culinary professionals.
Job Overview:
Food Preparation
- Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping, portioning, and assembling ingredients
- Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef during daily prep
- Maintain proper food handling and food safety standards
- Keep prep stations clean and organized
Dishwashing & Kitchen Sanitation
- Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the dishwashing area
- Ensure proper cleaning and sanitation of kitchen tools and equipment
- Assist with general kitchen cleaning duties as needed
Team Support
- Work collaboratively with kitchen staff during service
- Help maintain an efficient workflow in the kitchen
- Support overall kitchen operations in a high-volume environment
Qualifications
- Experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment preferred
- Basic knowledge of food preparation and knife skills
- Ability to follow food safety and sanitation practices
- Reliable, hardworking, and able to work as part of a team
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a busy kitchen environment
