Warda Foundation Academy is seeking a Teaching Fellow to join our Young 5s–2nd Grade multi-age classroom for a unique two-year paid fellowship program.
This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about children, learning, leadership, and alternative education — even if they do not yet have formal teaching credentials.
Rather than a traditional assistant position, this fellowship is a hands-on mentorship program that combines:
- Real classroom experience
- Professional educational training
- Socratic teaching methods
- Montessori philosophy and practice
- Leadership development
- Personalized mentorship
At the completion of the program, Fellows will graduate with:
- Extensive classroom experience
- Training in Socratic and discussion-based learning methods
- A nationally recognized Montessori certification
Position Details
- Approximately 20 hours per week
- Compensation: $15/hour
- Two-year paid fellowship program
- School-year schedule with potential summer opportunities
- Located in Fenton, Michigan
What You’ll Do
Teaching Fellows work alongside experienced lead teachers and become deeply involved in daily classroom life.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting students in reading, math, and hands-on learning
- Assisting with classroom organization and routines
- Leading small groups and enrichment activities
- Helping foster a calm, positive classroom culture
- Participating in outdoor learning and community experiences
- Building relationships with students and families
- Learning Montessori and Socratic educational practices through real-world application
