Position Summary
Instavaxx Comprehensive Wound Care is seeking a skilled and compassionate Wound Care Physician (MD) to join our growing team on a part-time basis (2½ days per week). This position provides specialized wound care services to patients in partnering skilled nursing facilities, nursing homes, and outpatient wound care clinics throughout the Chicagoland area.
The physician will perform regular rounds at partnering nursing homes while also treating patients in our wound care clinics. This role focuses on evaluating, treating, and managing acute and chronic wounds with the goal of improving healing outcomes, reducing hospitalizations, and enhancing patients' quality of life.

ResponsibilitiesWound Care Services
- Perform comprehensive wound assessments and evaluations.
- Diagnose and treat acute and chronic wounds, including pressure injuries, diabetic ulcers, venous ulcers, arterial ulcers, surgical wounds, and traumatic wounds.
- Develop individualized wound treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
- Perform wound procedures, including sharp debridement and other bedside wound care procedures when clinically appropriate.
- Monitor wound healing progress and modify treatment plans as needed.
- Utilize advanced wound care products and treatment modalities.
- Coordinate care with nursing staff, specialists, therapists, and facility providers to optimize patient outcomes.
- Educate patients, families, and facility staff on wound prevention and treatment strategies.
Facility & Clinical Responsibilities
- Conduct weekly rounds at partnering skilled nursing facilities and nursing homes.
- Evaluate and treat patients at outpatient wound care clinic locations.
- Complete timely, accurate, and compliant medical documentation.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary clinical teams to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain compliance with all federal, state, facility, and healthcare regulations.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on wound healing and patient outcomes.
QualificationsRequired
- Active Illinois MD license in good standing.
- DEA registration and controlled substance license (if applicable).
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Geriatrics, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, or another applicable specialty.
- Experience performing wound evaluations and wound-related procedures.
- Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between nursing homes and clinic locations throughout the Chicagoland area.
Preferred
- Wound Care Certification (CWSP, CWS, or equivalent) or significant wound care experience.
- Experience in skilled nursing facilities, long-term care, rehabilitation, or post-acute care.
- Experience treating geriatric and medically complex patients.
- Multiple years of clinical practice preferred.
- Experience using electronic medical records (EMR).
