Optician-Full-Time
Optometric Center & Eyewear Galleria – San Ramon, CA
Optometric Center & Eyewear Galleria is a well-established, growing private optometry practice in San Ramon. We are looking for an experienced, personable, and motivated Optician to join our team.
Our practice combines comprehensive eye care, specialty services, and a large optical boutique. We are looking for someone who enjoys helping patients, has a strong sense of eyewear style, and takes pride in providing an exceptional patient experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with frame selection and eyewear styling
- Recommend lens designs, materials, coatings, and other options based on patients' visual and lifestyle needs
- Take accurate optical measurements, including PDs and fitting heights
- Adjust, fit, dispense, and repair eyewear
- Troubleshoot prescription and eyewear concerns
- Verify prescriptions and finished eyewear using a lensometer
- Billing contact lens orders and patient needs
- Understand and utilize vision insurance benefits, including VSP and EyeMed
- Review eyewear pricing, insurance benefits, and patient responsibility
- Maintain an organized and attractive optical area
- Assist with frame inventory and merchandising
- Help maintain an efficient patient flow throughout the office
- Work closely with our doctors, technicians, and front-office team
- Provide outstanding customer service from the patient's arrival through completion of their eyewear purchase
What We're Looking For
- Previous optical/optician experience strongly preferred
- Excellent communication and customer-service skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Comfortable recommending and selling premium eyewear and lens options
- Friendly, professional, dependable, and team-oriented
- Ability to multitask in a busy private-practice environment
- Knowledge of VSP and EyeMed is a plus
- Experience with frame styling, adjustments, repairs, and optical measurements
- ABO certification is a plus, but not required
