Position Overview
The Trumpf 5-Axis Laser Operator is a highly skilled specialized machinist who sets up, programs, and operates advanced 3D laser systems supporting our Sheet Metal plant. Programs are set up using TruTops software. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the setup, program changes adjustments and operation of Trumpf 5-axis laser machines to produce high-precision parts according to engineering specifications.
Position is in Roseville, MI - 1st and 2nd shift available
- Monday - Friday (2pm - Midnight)
- Saturday (11am - 3pm)
- Monday - Friday (6am - 2:30pm)
- Saturday (6am - 11am)
- $22 - $28/hour

Key Responsibilities
· Machine Operation: Set up, calibrate, and safely operate TRUMPF 5-axis laser cutting machines to process complex 3D parts
· Blueprint Interpretation: Read, analyze, and interpret technical drawings, engineering blueprints, and detailed work orders
· Program Modification: Update, fine-tune, and modify existing CNC laser programs directly using TruTops software to optimize cutting paths
· Precision Control: Perform quality checks to ensure all finished parts meet strict dimensional tolerances and structural standards
· Process Optimization: Monitor live production cycles and make on-the-fly machine adjustments to maximize throughput and minimize material waste
· Team Collaboration: Work closely with quality control and engineering teams to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve any part discrepancies
· Adaptability: Perform routine machine maintenance, manage workspace cleanliness, and execute other duties as assigned by leadership
· Duties as Assigned: Support the department and production flow with a team attitude
Qualifications & Requirements
· Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of direct experience programming and operating TRUMPF 5-axis laser systems
· Software Skills: Proven proficiency with TRUMPF TruTops software suite
· Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of sheet metal fabrication properties, advanced 3D laser cutting techniques, and machine limitations
· Spatial Literacy: Strong ability to visualize and interpret complex engineering blueprints, geometric dimensioning, and 3D CAD models
· Tech Adaptability: Willingness and aptitude to learn and utilize our internal Epicor ERP system for tracking jobs, time, and inventory
· Quality Focus: Sharp attention to detail with experience using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
Preferred Skills & Experience
· Software Skills: Proven proficiency with TRUMPF TruTops software suite
· ERP Systems: Experience with Epicor ERP for tracking jobs, labor hours, and production inventory
Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
