Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging classroom lessons in chemistry, incorporating hands-on experiments and real-world applications to enhance student understanding.
- Develop and update curriculum materials aligned with educational standards and industry best practices.
- Utilize technical tools such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Blackboard learning management system, and other digital resources to facilitate effective instruction.
- Incorporate practical training on manufacturing processes, HVAC systems, automotive diagnostics, plumbing, welding, electrical systems, and aircraft maintenance to provide comprehensive technical education.
- Assess student progress through tests, projects, and practical demonstrations; provide constructive feedback to support continuous improvement.
- Maintain a safe classroom environment by adhering to OSHA standards and promoting safety protocols during laboratory activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues to design integrated lesson plans that incorporate mechanical knowledge, hydraulics, HVAC/R systems, maintenance procedures, and construction experience.
- Support adult education initiatives by delivering classroom training tailored for learners seeking technical certifications or career advancement in MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations).
Qualifications
- Proven experience teaching chemistry or related technical subjects in classroom settings with strong classroom experience.
- Technical proficiency with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), HVAC/R systems, automotive repair diagnostics, plumbing, welding, electrical systems, and aircraft maintenance is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to develop curriculum that integrates mechanical knowledge with practical skills such as hydraulics and HVAC systems.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards applicable to educational laboratories and industrial environments.
- Prior experience delivering adult education or technical training programs preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts clearly across diverse learner groups.
- Construction experience or background in manufacturing environments will be considered an asset.
