Position Summary
The Shift Lead serves as a key member of the restaurant leadership team, partnering with the General Manager and fellow Shift Leads to drive operational excellence, develop team members, and deliver an exceptional guest experience.
This role is responsible for helping lead daily operations, maintaining standards, coaching team members in real time, and ensuring smooth execution during every shift. Successful Shift Leads lead by example, communicate effectively, and create a positive, accountable environment where both team members and guests thrive.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with the General Manager and leadership team to drive operational excellence and restaurant performance
- Lead shifts and maintain control of the floor from start to finish
- Coach, train, and develop team members in real time
- Ensure food quality, cleanliness, safety, and hospitality standards are consistently met
- Monitor ticket times and adjust staffing and deployment based on business needs
- Address guest concerns and recover service opportunities professionally
- Support labor management by maximizing productivity and minimizing downtime
- Communicate priorities, expectations, and shift objectives clearly
- Assist with opening, closing, cash handling, inventory, and operational procedures
- Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Lead by example and help create a positive, high-performing work environment
What We're Looking For
- Previous restaurant, hospitality, retail, or leadership experience preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to coach, motivate, and develop team members
- Positive attitude with a team-first mentality
- Ability to multitask and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
- Reliable, dependable, and detail-oriented
- Strong sense of urgency and ownership
- Passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional guest experiences
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout an entire shift
- Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 pounds
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to bend, reach, twist, squat, and climb as needed
- Ability to work safely around grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy restaurant environment
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require
