Sales Engineer
Birmingham, AL
Position Overview
The Sales Engineer will develop and maintain relationships with industrial customers, with a primary focus on cement plants and additional work in lime, pulp and paper, and other heavy industrial markets. This role does not require an engineering degree, but it does require strong technical knowledge, practical mechanical understanding, and the ability to communicate well with plant personnel, maintenance teams, purchasing departments, and internal shop staff.
The ideal candidate will be based in or near Birmingham, AL, and will be comfortable spending time both with customers and with the company’s shop team.

The company is a more than 100-year-old industrial repair and service business focused on large equipment. Its work includes repair, rebuilds, machining, welding, fabrication, and field service for heavy industrial customers.
Key Responsibilities
· Build and maintain relationships with cement plants and other industrial customers.
· Identify repair, rebuild, and service opportunities at customer sites.
· Communicate effectively with maintenance, purchasing, operations, and plant leadership.
· Understand customer equipment needs and help translate them into practical shop or field service solutions.
· Work closely with the internal shop team to understand capabilities, current projects, and technical details.
· Travel regularly to customer locations, including local and regional accounts.
· Represent the company professionally with both existing customers and new prospects.
Ideal Background
· Experience in cement, lime, pulp and paper, or another heavy industrial environment.
· Background in technical sales, plant maintenance, purchasing, equipment repair, or industrial service.
· Practical understanding of heavy equipment, components, and repair needs.
· Ability to speak the language of plant and maintenance personnel.
· Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
· Birmingham-area candidate preferred; relocation may be considered.
Pay: $100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
