Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Afternoon Math Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching math to middle school students, delivering engaging and comprehensive lessons. This role requires an enthusiastic educator who is committed to fostering a positive, enriching learning environment that promotes financial literacy and mathematical skills.
This position involves 12 hours of teaching each week, Monday through Thursday, during our afternoon hours of 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
Responsibilities:
1. Curriculum Delivery:
- Plan and deliver dynamic and interactive lessons in Math tailored to meet the needs of students in the middle grades.
- Utilize a variety of teaching methods and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Incorporate hands-on activities, group work, and technology to enhance learning experiences.
2. Assessment and Progress Monitoring:
- Assess student understanding and progress through regular formative and summative assessments.
- Provide constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth and development.
- Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assignments, and assessments.
3. Classroom Management:
- Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning.
- Implement clear and consistent behavioral expectations and routines.
- Address any behavioral issues promptly and effectively, promoting respect and cooperation among students.
4. Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with the General Studies Principal to align curriculum, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress, academic achievements, and any concerns.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and other school activities as required.
5. Recess Supervision:
- Supervise students during recess periods, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Promote positive social interactions and facilitate cooperative play among students.
- Respond to any incidents or emergencies promptly and appropriately.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification/license preferred.
- Strong knowledge of curriculum standards and best practices in education.
- Excellent classroom management skills and ability to create a positive learning environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
