Job Overview
We are partnering with a company in Defiance seeking a detail-oriented and proactive 1st Shift Quality Inspector to join our manufacturing team. In this critical role, you will ensure that all products meet rigorous quality standards by performing precise inspections and measurements throughout the production process. Your expertise will help maintain compliance with industry regulations, uphold safety protocols, and guarantee the delivery of high-quality products to our customers. Duties
- Conduct thorough inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, manufacturing documents, and technical drawings to verify dimensional accuracy and adherence to specifications.
- Perform quality audits and assessments in accordance with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), FDA regulations, and other regulatory standards to ensure compliance across all production stages.
- Utilize vision inspection systems and other advanced measurement tools to identify defects or deviations from quality standards.
- Document inspection results accurately in data collection systems and prepare detailed reports for review by quality management teams.
- Collaborate with production staff to address quality issues promptly, providing guidance on corrective actions and process improvements.
- Participate in calibration of measuring instruments and coordinate calibration schedules to maintain measurement accuracy.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of quality assurance processes within manufacturing environments, including QA/QC procedures and quality systems management.
- Proficiency with calibration and use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, height gauges, calipers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
- Familiarity with industry standards including ISO 9001, ISO 13485 (medical devices), GMP, HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point), and FDA regulations.
- Ability to interpret mechanical blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturing documents accurately.
- Strong analysis skills for identifying root causes of defects and implementing effective corrective actions.
- Mechanical knowledge combined with experience in dimensional measurements and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Experience conducting quality audits and ensuring compliance with regulatory/legal standards in production environments.
- Basic math skills for precise measurement calculations and data analysis.
- Competence in operating vision inspection systems, height gauges, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measurement tools.
- Excellent attention to detail coupled with strong communication skills for reporting findings clearly and effectively.
