GENERAL PURPOSE: The PRC Cook is a highly skilled professional cook who helps oversee the operations of our dining facility under the guidance of the Executive Chef. The Cook is dedicated to preparing high-quality meals in accordance with food health and safety regulations and company standards. The Cook’s responsibilities include following instructions relating to the timely preparation of food, organizing workstations, prep work, stocking, and assisting the culinary team as needed. You should also be able to ensure that the refrigerators and storerooms are kept clean and tidy. The Cook is able to use various cooking techniques and methods to prepare meals that exceed our clients expectations. Ultimately, a top-notch Cook is able to handle preparing food for up to 50 people without compromising on quality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparing and assembling ingredients for the menu items.
- Preparing high-quality meals and food items according to the Executive Chef and/or Sous-Chef recipes and standards.
- Storing excess food at the correct temperature in order to avoid spoilage.
- Ensuring that food portions and food presentation meet the culinary programs standards.
- Monitoring supplies and equipment - Reporting any needs to the Executive Chef.
- Ensure that all cooking utensils and surfaces are clean prior to each use.
- Clean and sanitize food preparation areas.
- Assisting the culinary team as a whole to ensure that food preparation and cooking is completed within the established time constraints of the clients schedule.
- Help Stock all snacks, condiments, drinks, etc in the dining hall.
- Assist in any prep work needed.
- Efficiently resolving any food problems that a client may have.
- Keep a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen in accordance with FDA, OSHA, and Peaks Standards.
- Accept direction from the Executive Chef and execute all requests in a timely manner.
- Perform all standard kitchen and dining duties when the Executive Chef is not available.
- Provide service to clients
- Maintaining a clean and sanitary dining area for the clients.
Center-Wide Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for keeping client information confidential by adhering to Colorado law and policies and procedures of the PRC.
- Responsible for compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws; professional practice acts and ethical guidelines; policies and procedures of PRC; and contractual guidelines.

- Completes all administrative paperwork as requested/required.
- Completes required competency training and additional training as required.
- Reviews and acknowledges PRC policies and procedures as required.

Education or Formal Training and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED is preferred, but not required.
- Completion of a drug screen upon hire and at random is required.
- Completion of a background check in accordance with Colorado Statutes is required.
- ServSafe food handling certification is required.
- Sound knowledge of cooking methods and techniques.
- Proven experience working as a Cook.

- Ability to produce full meals on time and serve out said meals in a professional manner.
