Major Functions:
To regularly monitor cafeterias within The DeSoto County School District to ensure quality control practices and proper policies and procedures are being followed.
Duties and Responsibilities: Duties and responsibilities may be assigned, including but not limited to:

All duties and responsibilities of the Child Nutrition Team Leader.

Management:
-
Supervises school meals programs in accordance with federal, state, and local requirements.
-
Completes monitoring requirements of administered meals programs.
-
Regularly audits daily inventory transactions and physical inventory levels.
-
Reviews production records (Red Book) and reports findings to Director.
-
Attends required meetings and professional development opportunities.
-
Monitor site productivity factors and provide recommendations for improvement.
-
Act as a mediator when needed to resolve work related issues.
-
Act as a substitute Child Nutrition Team Leader during absences/vacancies.
-
Preparation:
-
Assist Child Nutrition Team Leader with physical inventories of all food and supply items.
-
Ensure Food Buying Guide and other resources are being used to meet menu requirements.
-
Aid in preparing food & supply orders by required dates provided by Assistant Director.
-
Ensure that proper procedures are being followed for receiving, storing, handling, preparing, and serving of purchased and donated food according to established standards.

Production:
-
Offer training to Child Nutrition Team Leaders and Members on following:
-
Ensure meals are produced following set menus and standardized recipes.
-
Provide culinary tactics to enhance presentation and reduce production time.
-
Monitor cooking processes so flavor, appearance, and nutritional value are retained.
-
Cross-utilize ingredients during cooking process to save time.
-
Substitute appropriate ingredients during the cooking process to reduce inventory.
-
Service:
-
Monitor serving lines and cashier terminals to ensure required regulations are being met.
-
Promotes customer satisfaction by engaging students and staff.
-
Audit production records and inventory for proper leftovers utilization.
-
Supervision:
-
Assists new Child Nutrition Team Leaders or those on Plans of Improvement achieve goals.
-
Monitor efficiency of staff members and recommend corrective action to Director.
-
Assist with job rotation to ensure all staff members are cross-trained.
-
Provides staff training based on needs of Child Nutrition Team Leaders or assigned by Director.

Cleaning & Sanitation:
-
Assures that sanitation and safety practices in all phases of the school food service operation meet established standards.
-
Sanitation & Safety:
-
Ensure HACCP SOP's are current and being followed appropriately.
-
Assist Child Nutrition Team Leaders receiving a Corrective Action Plan from Health Dept.
-
Review and report facility issues and safety hazards to Director.
-
Finance:
-
Audit End-of-Day reports against Production Records, Deposits, & Actual Production.
-
Equipment:
-
Computer, email, telephone, a variety of industrial food production and service equipment, refrigeration and hot food holding equipment, floor care and cleaning products, carts, mops, brooms, dusters, spray bottles, and brushes.

Travel:
-
Travel to school district buildings and meetings as required.
-
Move inventory as needed to control cost.
- Additional Duties:

Adhere to the Mississippi Code of Ethics.

Maintain confidentiality and privacy of all DeSoto County Schools' records.
Minimum Requirements:
-
All qualifications of the Child Nutrition Team Leader.
-
Prior experience as a Child Nutrition Team Leader.
-
Current and valid, nationally recognized, food handling certificate.
