We are seeking an energetic and motivated Distributor Sales Representative specializing in Plant Health Products/Fertilizers within the T&O (Turf & Ornaments) division. This pivotal role involves driving commercial growth by selling specialized plant health products directly to golf courses, nurseries, landscapers, and sports facilities. This field-based role requires strong technical knowledge, relationship building, and proactive lead generation to maximize client retention and territory revenue. with distributors, negotiating sales agreements, and expanding market presence. The ideal candidate will be passionate about solutions, possess excellent communication skills, and thrive in a fast-paced sales environment. Your efforts will directly contribute to increasing product adoption and revenue, ensuring our fertilizer solutions reach the right customers efficiently and effectively.
Responsibilities
- Sales Generation & Prospecting: Drive revenue by identifying, warm-calling, and securing new commercial clients while maintaining a growing book of existing accounts.
- Agronomic Planning: Develop customized fertility, water management, and pest control portfolios tailored to specific soil, climate, and plant health needs.
- Technical Consultation: Provide expert on-site consultations to groundskeepers, landscape managers, and nursery owners regarding product application and turf management.
- Relationship Management: Act as a strategic business partner. Schedule regular field visits to ensure customer satisfaction and troubleshoot any agronomic or application issues.
- Pipeline Management: Use CRM Platforms to log customer interactions, manage contracts, track leads, and forecast territory sales.
- Product Education: Keep up-to-date with the latest industry regulations, competitor products, and advancements in fertilizer technology.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in B2B sales, preferably within turf, ornamental, or plant health care industries. chemical industries such as fertilizer or related products
- Fertilizer Knowledge: Deep understanding of plant health, soil conditions, and turf management practices. Highly Preferred.
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of closing deals effectively
- Demonstrated ability in business development and account management strategies
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with an emphasis on relationship building
- Knowledge of marketing principles and techniques to support product promotion efforts
- Analysis skills to interpret market data, customer feedback, and sales metrics for strategic planning
- Experience in technical sales or working closely with product specialists is a plus
- Leadership qualities that enable guiding clients through complex decision-making processes
- Ability to perform warm calling efficiently while maintaining a professional demeanor
- Proficiency with software suites like Microsoft 365
- Education: 2-year or 4-year degree in Agronomy, Turfgrass Science, Agriculture Business, or a related field is often preferred.
- Compliance: Valid State Driver’s License. Specialized certifications (e.g., Pesticide Applicator License) are a major asset.
