Equipment Operator
Triumph Construction is seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This position is ideal for someone with experience in heavy civil construction—not just general earthmoving. We are looking for operators who understand the precision required for underground utility installation, drainage work, road construction, and concrete-related projects.
The ideal candidate has experience operating multiple types of heavy equipment while working safely around underground utilities, crews, and live traffic. You should be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment.
Preferred Experience Operating
- Excavators
- Bulldozers
- Skid steers
- Wheel loaders
- Motor graders (preferred)
- Rollers and compactors
- Off-road haul trucks (a plus)
Experience In
- Storm drain installation
- Sewer and water utility installation
- Excavation and trenching
- Fine grading and finish grading
- Roadway construction
- Concrete paving support
- Reading stakes, grades, and construction plans
- Working around existing underground utilities
- Daily equipment inspections and preventative maintenance
Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy construction equipment on active job sites.
- Perform excavation, grading, trenching, loading, backfilling, and site preparation.
- Work closely with superintendents, foremen, pipe crews, and grade checkers to complete projects accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct daily pre-trip inspections and report mechanical issues immediately.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance and keep equipment clean.
- Follow OSHA, company, and project safety requirements at all times.
- Assist with other construction duties as needed.
- Help maintain a productive, safe, and professional job site.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of heavy civil construction equipment operating experience preferred.
- Experience with underground utility and drainage projects is highly preferred.
- Ability to read grades and follow construction stakes.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to safety.
- Valid driver's license; CDL is a plus.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding work when needed.
