The YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh is seeking enthusiastic and mission-driven teachers to lead our Youth Development programs and help open the brand new Allegheny Childcare Center.
As a key member on our Youth Development Team and a member of the Allegheny YMCA Team, you’ll help children discover their potential while supporting families through dependable, enriching care. You’ll work closely as a team of dedicated educators, build strong partnerships with staff and families, and ensure our programs reflect the highest standards of safety, inclusion, and child development.

Essential Functions
- Ensures child safety and health of youth at all times, supervising children from ages 6 weeks to 5 years.
- Actively supervises a group, while maintaining ratio and utilizing the ID system.
- Manages classroom behavior using positive behavior management techniques to create a safe and respectful environment.
- Plans and implements curriculum and activities within established guidelines that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate, and consistent with YMCA values.
- Maintains program areas and adheres to program standards in regards to equipment, storage, safety, and cleanliness.
- Makes ongoing, systematic observations of each youth and reports information to lead staff.
- Attends and participates in staff meetings, staff training, program activities, and family events (both on and off site).
- Responsible for daily record keeping of and check-in with leadership that honors the confidentiality of the information.
- Responsible for meeting CACFP program requirements and recording meals at point of service.
- Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective verbal and/or written communication with parents, youth, and other staff.
- Maintains compliance with all DHS and OCDEL licensing requirements and NAEYC and/or Keystone Stars and/or ACA Accreditation standards and training requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum 18 years of age

- High School Diploma/GED -and-
- Bachelor's Degree in ECE or related field

- Bachelor's Degree with 30 credit hours in ECE or related field -and-
- 1 year of experience working with youth
-or-
- Associates Degree in ECE or related field -and-
- 2 years’ experience working with youth
-or-
- Associates Degree -and-
- 30 credit hours in ECE or related field -and-
- 3 years’ experience working with youth
-and-
- Pediatric First Aid, CPR, and AED Certification
- Mandated Reporter Training within 30 days of hire
- Water Safety Supervision Training upon hire (as needed for location)

What You’ll Need to Join Us
- Must be 18+ years old
- An Associates or Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Human Services, or a related field.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Required clearances: Act 33, 34, 151 & NSOR
- Mandated Reporter Certification (within 45 days – paid training)
- Completion of health/TB screening and 10 hours of DHS training within 30 days (paid)
- CPR and Pediatric First Aid within 90 days (paid)
