Technician II (Tech II) – Job Description Position Summary
The Technician II (Tech II) is an intermediate-level field technician responsible for performing installation, configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of integrated security systems including CCTV, access control, intrusion alarms, intercoms, and network-based devices. This role works more independently than a Tech I and is expected to complete tasks with minimal supervision, resolve issues on-site, and ensure installations meet company standards for quality and accuracy. The Tech II supports Project Managers, Installation Managers, and Lead Technicians and may assist in guiding Tech I personnel.
This position requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, problem-solving capability, and a high standard of workmanship.
Key Responsibilities Installation & Commissioning
· Perform installation, setup, programming, testing, and commissioning of security and low-voltage systems for medium to large-scale projects.
· Verify correct operation of all installed equipment and ensure systems perform according to project specifications.
Technical Documentation
· Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, submittals, and specifications.
· Create accurate “as-built” documentation upon project completion.
· Complete all required reports for customer submission and participate in system acceptance testing with AHJs and other stakeholders.
Customer & Project Support
· Consult with clients to understand security needs and assess risks related to system design and installation.
· Maintain up-to-date knowledge on product lines, technology changes, and relevant codes.
· Assist in troubleshooting during and after installation and support project teams as required.
Operational Expectations
· Participate in the on-call rotation to provide after-hours support.
· Maintain tools, equipment, and job-site organization in accordance with company standards.
· Communicate effectively with project managers, team members, and clients to ensure smooth project execution.
What We Look For Required Qualifications
· Strong working knowledge of security and low-voltage equipment, including application, compatibility, mounting, programming, and testing.
· Completion of an Electronic Technician program or equivalent hands-on experience.
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Valid driver’s license with the ability to pass a driving background check.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with analog, hybrid, and IP CCTV systems; access control platforms; intrusion systems; fire alarm; intercom; wireless systems; and network-based solutions.
· Knowledge of IT standards, network topology, and basic network configuration.
· Understanding of local and national codes relevant to inspection, testing, and installation.
· Proven ability to program microprocessor-based systems with minimal supervision.
· Proficiency with computers, MS operating systems, and basic PC hardware/software configuration.
· Background in construction environments, low-voltage design or design-assist work, and construction management is an asset.
· Strong troubleshooting skills with experience using electronic test equipment.
· Clear and professional communication skills with a solid understanding of communication protocols.

Pay: $29.00 - $33.00 per hour
