As Sr. Tax Client Manager, you are the primary advisor for a portfolio of clients. You own the relationship, lead strategic tax planning conversations, and ensure that every engagement is delivered at the standard our clients expect and deserve.
This is not a data-entry position or a compliance-only role. It is a senior advisory position for someone who is ready to lead client relationships, apply technical expertise to real-world planning scenarios, and grow with a firm that is building something meaningful.
In 12 months, the right person has a full client portfolio, strong client retention, and a compensation package that reflects the value they deliver — including base salary, performance bonus, and profit share.
THE ROLE
The Sr. Tax Client Manager leads strategic client engagements and proactive tax planning across a dedicated client portfolio. You work closely with firm leadership and collaborate with a high-caliber team of professionals who hold each other to a high standard.
Client Advisory & Tax Planning
- Lead strategic client meetings and deliver proactive tax planning and structuring advice
- Prepare and review individual and business tax returns to a high standard of accuracy
- Develop and implement tax reduction strategies tailored to each client's unique situation
- Review financial statements and identify tax planning opportunities throughout the year
- Provide clear, confident guidance that clients can understand and act on Client Relationship
Management
- Manage a full portfolio of clients as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor
- Build strong, lasting client relationships through proactive communication and follow-through
- Ensure every client interaction reflects the professionalism and care our firm is known for
- Identify opportunities to deepen advisory relationships and expand client value over time
Operations & Collaboration
- Work within our 100% virtual, paperless environment using our technology stack efficiently
- Collaborate with senior team members to finalize complex engagements and deliver client outcomes
- Maintain meticulous documentation and uphold firm standards for quality and compliance
- Participate in ongoing professional development and firm-wide training
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- 3+ years of experience in tax preparation and review — individual and business returns
- Demonstrated ability to lead client-facing advisory conversations with confidence and clarity
- Strong technical knowledge of tax law, planning strategies, and financial statements
- Relevant degree in Accounting; CPA or EA designation is a plus
- High emotional intelligence — you build trust naturally and handle sensitive conversations well
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and manage a full client workload
- Comfortable in a fully virtual, technology-driven environment — you adapt quickly and work independently
