American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an ICU float pool position at an academic medical center requiring advanced mechanical circulatory support and ECMO experience.

Float pool position covering multiple ICUs, TCUs, ED, and PACU across UCSF facilities
-
Cardiovascular, medical, surgical, neuro, and transplant ICU patient populations
-
Patient ratio of 1:2
-
Rotating 12-hour Day (7:00-19:30) and Night (19:00-7:30) shifts on 3x12 schedules
-
Each 4-week schedule cycle is either day or night shift, subject to change based on need
-
Care for complex critical care patients including those on ECMO, IABP, Impella, LVAD, CRRT, and PA catheters

Epic charting system preferred
-
Required to float to other UCSF facilities and departments within a 75+ mile radius
-
Active CA RN license required
-
BSN required
-
Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (NIHSS preferred)

Minimum 4 years of recent ICU experience required
-
ECMO experience within the last 6 months to 1 year required
-
Experience caring for ECMO patients as bedside RN without dedicated perfusion support required

CVICU/CTICU/CCU experience required

Trauma Level II experience required

Teaching hospital/academic medical center experience preferred
-
Recent travel nursing experience required, completed within the past 12 months and totaling 1 year or less in the past 5 years

Ability to independently manage complex critical care patients

Strong interpersonal communication skills
-
Experience with VA ECMO, VV ECMO, V-PA ECMO, CRRT (NxStage), IABP (Teleflex), Impella, and ventricular assist devices strongly preferred
-
Experience with heart failure/cardiogenic shock, cardiothoracic surgery recovery, and heart/lung transplant recovery strongly preferred
-
Prior experience simultaneously managing multiple support devices (e.g., ECMO + CRRT, ECMO + Impella) highly desirable

Two references from most recent employer required for consideration

Function within an Integrated Cardiovascular Care (ICC) model managing complex mechanical circulatory support and multi-organ support therapies
-
Responsibilities include arterial line management, central line care, blood product administration, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
-
Skilled care includes ventilator management, ABG interpretation, EVD/ICP monitoring, and management of dysrhythmias
-
Any prior employment history with University of California medical facilities or their acquired facilities must be disclosed for rehire eligibility review

All requested time off must be submitted and approved by the manager at time of offer, with no additional requests accepted mid-contract and none permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment

Travel pairs are allowed but generally will not be placed on the same unit
