Responsibilities
- Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and incorporate hockey-related themes to motivate students
- Provide individualized tutoring in core subjects such as mathematics, English language arts, science, and social studies, tailoring approaches to diverse learning styles
- Utilize various learning technologies to enhance instruction and facilitate online learning sessions when needed
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate students’ unique needs, including those with special education requirements or different cultural backgrounds
- Support students’ academic progress through regular assessments, feedback, and goal-setting strategies
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all learners
- Collaborate with coaches, parents, and other staff members to ensure a holistic approach to student development and success
Skills
- Strong background in curriculum development and lesson planning across multiple subjects
- Proficiency with learning technology tools and online instruction platforms
- Experience tutoring in mathematics, science, English language arts, or SAT preparation
- Excellent communication skills for working with students of varying ages and backgrounds
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies based on individual learning styles and needs
- Demonstrated classroom management skills and experience working with children or young adults
- Knowledge of special education practices and experience supporting diverse learners
- Passion for mentoring youth through sports and education combined with a proactive attitude toward student engagement
- Effective written skills for documenting progress and communicating with parents or guardians
- Experience working in educational settings such as classrooms, preschools, or adult education programs
